Better Living Expo to Spotlight Lifestyle Products, Services
11 July 2011 – A wide variety of lifestyle products and services will highlight Hong Kong’s newest trade and public fair, Better Living Expo, which debuts 22 July and continues through 24 July at AsiaWorld-Expo. The show is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Paper Communication Exhibition Services (PCES).
Four Themes
At a media conference, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau said the new fair will welcome more than 200 exhibitors, representing major brands from all over the world. They will focus on four themes: beauty and well-being, hobbies and learning, back-to-school products, and value shopping.
“The Better Living Expo will be a great sourcing opportunity for buyers, and an eye-opening experience for trade and public visitors alike,” said Mr Chau.
PCES Chairman Eddie Leung said the first edition of the expo will have something for everyone. “We are planning more than 50 entertaining events to showcase products from these fast-growing sectors,” said Mr Leung, noting that the expo will open on a Friday and continue over the weekend.
Cars and Robots
Today’s media preview offered an advance look at some of the products to be shown at the expo. It also highlighted some of the expo’s special events, including competitions involving remote-control model cars and computer-programmed robots created from LEGO components, as well as an air-gun shooting game and a charity game.
A business-to-business and business-to-consumer exhibition, Better Living Expo will cater to growing demand for products that improve quality of life. The public presence at the fair will give exhibitors instant feedback on products featured at the show.
Leisure Experience
The event will offer one-stop shopping as well as an enjoyable leisure experience. Opening day will feature a charity show “Wii ARE THE KING!” by Pok Oi, and a musical performance by the Yip's Children's Choir & Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra. A beauty workshop organised by MISSHA, and a fitness exercise demonstration, “Be Beautiful, Be Fit,” by FitBoxx.com, will take place 23 and 24 July respectively.
Visitors to the Beauty & Well-Being section will find a “Brand Hot Spot” zone offering exclusive 50 per cent or more discounts on select products.
At the Hobbies & Learning section, free trials in golf, wine tasting, Go and music composition will be among the highlights.
The Value Shopping section will feature discounted products from Vivienne Westwood, while the Back-to-School zone will include such social enterprises as the YMCA of Hong Kong Community Shop and the Hong Kong Women Workers' Association.
Regional Role
“The Better Living Expo builds on Hong Kong’s increasing role as a regional trendsetter,” said Mr Chau, noting the city’s growing influence on the Chinese mainland and elsewhere in Asia. “It’s an ideal opportunity for exhibitors to promote their lifestyle products and services.”
Organisers said the new fair will target local as well as mainland markets, creating opportunities for business cooperation.
Mr Leung of PCES said the event can also help develop Hong Kong’s exhibition industry. “We believe the new show can benefit exhibitors as well as buyers and visitors,” he added.
The HKTDC organises six fairs with other organisers, including the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair, the Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair, the Hong Kong International Tea Fair and Eco Expo Asia.
