Hong Kong Designers Go To New York Fashion Week
2 February 2016 – The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will bring three leading Hong Kong designers to participate in New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2016 next Friday (4pm, 12 Feb), showcasing the city’s fashion creativity to industry elites and style influencers from around the world. At The Show of Fashion Hong Kong to be organised by the HKTDC during New York Fashion Week, Harrison Wong, Hidy Ng and Polly Ho will launch their Fall/Winter 2016 collections.

Hidy Ng |
Designer profile Hidy Ng has created numerous unique designs which have been highly recognised by the fashion industry over the years. She was awarded the International Fashion Editors Best Collection Award in 1994 and the “Award for Creativity” and “Overall Winner” at the New Fashion Award Show 2002. Brand: HIDY N.G. Launched in New York in 2003, HIDY N.G. offers luxury collections that are contemporary, feminine and creative. Inspired by the amalgamation of art and timeless aesthetics. The brand is characterised by simple silhouettes and great attention to detail. Collection: “Unruly Luxuriance” Inspired by an independent and elegant lady who enjoys putting together extraordinary outfits, the collection features elegant layers adorned with ruffled and irregularly hems, and black and white pieces oozing classic glamour enhanced with vintage gold.

Polly Ho |
Designer profile After graduating from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Polly Ho studied at the University of Central England and worked for Misa Harada Millinery in London. She has been active in the Chinese market as a fashion consultant for various Chinese brands. In October 2015, Polly Ho launched her Spring/Summer 2016 collection at the Fashion Hong Kong Show during Tokyo Fashion Week to critical acclaim. Brand: Loom Loop Loom Loop embodies a mixture of traditional craftsmanship and a modern approach to contemporary individualism. The brand employs an eco-friendly technique by using natural dye and sun exposure to develop patterns on delicate silk materials. Collection: “Androgynous” The collection, inspired by the Chinese love legend Butterfly Lovers, integrates a feminine look with structured tailoring and features prints in burgundy as well as dark forest colours. The use of Canton silk also gives subtle detailing to the collection. |
Fashion Hong Kong pop-up showroom in SoHo during New York Fashion Week
Fashion Hong Kong comprises a series of overseas promotional events organised by the HKTDC to present Hong Kong fashion designers and labels in the global fashion arena, including the Tokyo and New York fashion weeks, as well as the Copenhagen Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016 held last week.
Apart from the Fashion Hong Kong runway show, HKTDC will also set up a pop-up showroom called The House of Fashion Hong Kong in SoHo, New York’s fashion hub, from 10 to 13 February to present the works of the three Hong Kong designers as well as a number of select Hong Kong fashion and accessories brands to the buyers, media representatives and trendsetters attending New York Fashion Week. The showroom, HKTDC’s first overseas collaboration with PMQ, will introduce the work of eight PMQ-based Hong Kong brands to the New York fashion scene in specially-designed showcases. PMQ is a design and creative hub in Hong Kong’s Central district.
