World’s Top Electronics Fair and electronicAsia Open
13 October 2013 – The 33rd HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), the largest show of its kind in the world, and the 17th electronicAsia opened today and continue through 16 October, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
European Newcomers
More than 4,000 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions are taking part in the two electronics shows. The Electronics Fair alone is hosting more than 3,400 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions. These include newcomers from Denmark, Portugal and Sweden, together with pavilions representing the Chinese mainland, and its Fujian and Jiangmen provinces, along with Korea and Taiwan.
Hall of Fame
Fair highlights include such new product zones as i-World, with nearly 170 exhibitors at Expo Drive Hall, and Smart Home, featuring 35 exhibitors in the Chancellor Room. The Hall of Fame returns with some 485 exhibitors displaying a wealth of brands, including Goodway, Motorola, Philips, Princess, Skyworth and Vtech.
The show’s Small-Order Zone features more than 4,500 products, available in quantities from 20 to 1,000, while the Invention Zone’s exhibitors are presenting prototypes and new products in Mezzanine 4.
Industry Summit
The Hong Kong Electronic Industry Summit, 15 October, will spotlight acoustic product design and development, while the 14 October Buyer Forum examines opportunities in such emerging markets as Africa, Middle East and Russia.
Fair seminars will focus on credit risk management in emerging markets, using Hong Kong to tap into the growing electronics markets of the Chinese mainland, and regulatory updates on electronics and electrical products. Representatives from Dolby and Hitachi are among those taking part and offering the latest market and product trends.
Chinese Participation
Nearly 600 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions are on hand for the electronicAsia, among them group pavilions from the mainland, Japan, Korea and Thailand. The fair is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia Pte Ltd.
World of Solar
Highlights of electronicAsia include the Key Components for Smart Devices zone, along with the World of Solar and the World of Display Technology. The World of Solar offers a wide range of components, products and services in solar energy and photovoltaic technology. SISVEL, Truly Semiconductors and You-Eal Corporation are among the nearly 40 major international companies at the World of Display Technology zone. The World of Display Conference takes place on 15 October.
Buying Missions
The two electronics fairs are hosting 136 buying missions representing more than 9,800 buyers from 68 countries and regions.
Industry Performance
The electronics industry takes up about 59 per cent of Hong Kong’s total exports. In the first eight months of this year, Hong Kong’s electronics exports grew six per cent, to US$172 billion. The Chinese mainland, the United States, Japan, Taiwan and Korea are Hong Kong’s top export markets.
