29 June 2011 – The winning collections of The Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest (YDC) 2011 will be on display at Joyce Boutique's Admiralty shop, beginning 1 July.
"I was pleased to be one of the judges in the YDC this year," said Michael Mok, Divisional Merchandise Manager, Joyce Boutique Ltd. "I found that all the winners were very talented and creative. So we would like to support them by showcasing their outfits in our Pacific Place shop. Customers can also buy these collections if they are interested."
"We are grateful for Joyce Boutique's support of young local designers," said Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau. "YDC has been an incubator of the local fashion industry for more than 30 years. Beyond the prizes, YDC winners are rewarded with valuable experience and opportunities, which is beneficial to their career development."
The YDC winning collections to be displayed at Joyce Boutique include:
Overall Winner: Eva Cheng, "Fragments of the Sky"
Casual & Jeans-Wear Group Winner: Angela Ng, "The Black Sheep"
Contemporary Day-Wear Group Winner: Mag Choy, "Inanimate Infection"
Party & Evening-Wear Group Winner: Zoe Li, "Jugendstil"
Eva Cheng, the Overall Winner of the YDC 2011, also won an internship at Rue du Mail in Paris.
A variety of designers, all YDC finalists over the last two years, together with lighting decoration design company KaCaMa design lab, will stage 12 fashion collections in a special presentation, "Into the Light – Hong Kong New Design Force," during the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer, 4-7 July. The HKTDC, organiser of the YDC, will also arrange business-matching sessions for the young designers during the trade fair.
