CENTRESTAGE ELITES presents Robert Wun's 'Home Coming'
6 September 2024 – CENTRESTAGE ELITES took the spotlight at the Hong Kong Palace Museum on 3 September, marking the beginning of CENTRESTAGE, the four-day annual fashion extravaganza running at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 4 to 7 September.
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), CENTRESTAGE stands as the pinnacle of the Asia-Pacific fashion landscape. The opening show, CENTRESTAGE ELITES, featured renowned fashion designer Robert Wun, the first Hong Kong-born designer to have made waves at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, presenting a themed fashion show titled ‘Home Coming’. The event not only marked his first fashion show in Hong Kong but was also the first fashion show held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, making it a prominent event for the fashion and creative industries. It also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the eponymous Robert Wun brand, marking a landmark moment in the designer’s glittering career.
Among the distinguished guests joining CENTRESTAGE ELITES were government officials including Eric Chan, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Raistlin Lau, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Government of the HKSAR and Vivian Sum, Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Government of the HKSAR. Celebrities, industry icons and fashion aficionados including Kelly Chen, Fan Bingbing, Josie Ho, Janet Ma, Stephy Tang, Yoyo Cao and Elva Ni added a sprinkle of stardust to the show, with some of the celebrities donning Robert Wun designs.
Stunning couture stands out on scarlet-themed stage
Guests at CENTRESTAGE ELITES entered through the crimson doors of the Hong Kong Palace Museum to witness the haute couture spectacle. Renowned actress Kara Wai, supermodel Qi Qi and Japanese-American singer Mika Hashizume were among those elegantly showcasing 21 exquisitely crafted outfits by Robert Wun, with some of the designs inspired by Hong Kong's diverse arts and culture and the essence of femininity. The outfits were artfully displayed on a scarlet-themed stage decorated with sandalwood incense sticks. The show witnessed the brand's decade-long journey of growth and innovation, immersing the audience in an captivating fashion experience and earning resounding acclaim.
To ensure the event could be widely enjoyed, CENTRESTAGE ELITES was live-streamed on the CENTRESTAGE website, the HKTDC's YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram and Weibo pages, as well as various online platforms such as the Viu TV App and Yahoo HK.
