HKTDC’s Response to Chief Executive’s Policy Address
10 October 2018 – In the Chief Executive’s 2018 Policy Address announced today, the following items relate to the work of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Below is our response:
Belt and Road Initiative
HKTDC Chairman Vincent HS Lo said: “We welcome the Government’s strategy to bring opportunities for Hong Kong through the Belt and Road Initiative by leveraging our city’s strengths, and I’m happy to note that our efforts in the past few years have helped establish Hong Kong as a commercial hub for the Initiative.”
“Through our information website, missions, our global network and partnerships, and our annual Belt and Road Summit, we have helped businesses from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and around the world to collaborate and explore commercial opportunities on the Belt and Road. We look forward to continue working with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to enhance this flagship event on 11-12 September next year, by stepping up business matching and promotional elements.” he added.
Asia’s convention and exhibition hub
The HKTDC is pleased to note the Government’s clear direction to enhance the development of the convention and exhibition industry. Given the important contribution of the industry to Hong Kong’s economy, the Council will continue to work with the Government to help reinforce the city’s position as Asia’s business hub.
