HKTDC’s “Happy Innovations” Exhibition Opens Today
22 November 2017 – DesignInspire, a new international creative exhibition organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), debuts next month to promote state-of-the-art innovation and designs from around the world. As the event’s first major citywide promotion, the Happy Innovations Exhibition opened today and runs until 5 December at the Gallery by the Harbour, to further promote creativity and design culture.
More than a dozen Inspiring Designs under Three Themes
The exhibition explores new possibilities and innovative solutions to build a more livable and happier city. Under the themes of PLAY, LIVE and INSPIRE, more than 20 up-and-coming Hong Kong designers, who come from different design disciplines, present 16 life-inspiring creations and installations to promote the philosophy of “Happy City.”
Under PLAY, designers transform the city into an enjoyable play area by introducing unconventional applications of ordinary objects and materials. LIVE features fresh and creative spatial designs, and unique furniture for home living. INSPIRE showcases a series of innovative designs that promote inner peace and happiness.
Preview for DesignInspire
Happy Innovations is a prelude to DesignInspire, which will showcase global design and creative projects by more than 220 creative entrepreneurs and elites from 11 countries and regions. Through an array of interactive displays and products, the theme pavilion Urbanovation: Co-create A Happy City, highlights how design-driven innovations can shape urban living. Italy, this year’s Partner Country, will feature more than 130 top-notch Italian designs, including the latest ultra-exotic sports car Lamborghini-Aventador S Roadster and the electronic motorbike Ducati – XDiavel. Overseas pavilions and exhibitors will showcase innovative works and installations from Australia, Japan, Korea, Poland and Sweden.
Apart from enjoying the exhibitions, visitors can also purchase their favourite design products at a pop-up store. Creative minds from various sectors will share their design thinking and light-hearted urban creations during more than 18 InnoTalks and thematic seminars. Some of the star speakers will include branding expert Tommy Li, celebrated new-media artist Keith Lam, local illustrators Tony Electronic and Rap Chan (Dustykids), and master chef Christian Yang. DesignInspire will run from 7-9 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), and is open to the public for free.
