“Hong Kong in Fashion” Sets the Scene for CENTRESTAGE
28 August 2017 – Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the second edition of Asia’s signature fashion event, CENTRESTAGE, will be held from 6-9 September. To spread the fashion buzz to the wider community, the HKTDC is joining hands with more than 100 partners, including the Hong Kong Design Centre, Fashion Farm Foundation, Lan Kwai Fong, fashion design schools, beauty salons, hotels and shopping malls, to present a month-long citywide campaign. “Hong Kong in Fashion,” to be held from 15 August-30 September, will feature over 90 public events promoting fashion, trends and creativity at various trendsetting hotspots.
Some of the highlight events include Hong Kong in Fashion Fiesta@D2 Place, Fashion Avenue Fest@Lee Tung Avenue, CENTRESTAGE Fashion Street Parade@Lee Tung Avenue, "The City of Fashion" Flash Dance@Harbour City and CENTRESTAGE Playground@Hysan Place. This year, CENTRESTAGE is also teaming up with the Mira Place and The Mira Hong Kong to present a new incarnation of a stylish afternoon tea at COCO that blends fashion with delightful delicacies. The promotion runs from today until 26 September. In addition, the HKTDC is organising the Street Snap Competition, where participants can upload chic wear snaps through the competition website or Instagram for a chance to win fabulous prizes worth over HK$100,000.
Fashion Avenue Fest and CENTRESTAGE Fashion Street Parade@Lee Tung Avenue
The new Wan Chai landmark, Lee Tung Avenue, is once again partnering with the HKTDC to organise a weekend carnival titled “Fashion Avenue Fest” on 2-3 September, featuring a series of free fashion and manicure workshops and discount offers at select shops. The CENTRESTAGE Fashion Street Parade will also showcase the designs of up-and-coming local brands and fashion design students.
"The City of Fashion" Flash Dance@Harbour City
Also on 2 September, a flash mob performance called “The City of Fashion” will take place at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dressed in outfits designed by Hong Kong’s up-and-coming designers, dancer and singer Det Dik, along with a group of dancers, will perform near the Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier.
Hong Kong in Fashion Fiesta@D2 Place
From 15 August-30 September, the HKTDC and D2 Place has been organising a series of fashion shows and exhibitions, including the joint Fashion Night Out cocktail party and opening ceremony on 1 September, which will be held at The Garage at the ground floor of D2 Place TWO in Lai Chi Kok. On the same night, there will be a fashion show of some 40 designs created by students of the Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CBCC), HKU Space and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The works of the students as well as those of the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) will then be displayed at the same venue from 2-30 September. The exhibition will showcase the creativity of up-and-coming local designers while promoting Hong Kong fashion. Other public events include a series of workshops, broadcast from key opinion leaders and discount shop offers from mid-August until the end of September.
CENTRESTAGE Playground@Hysan Place
From 4-9 September, the Kai Chiu Road entrance of Hysan Place will be transformed into “CENTRESTAGE Playground@Hysan Place,” featuring some of the finest photographs of selected homegrown Hong Kong brands. Inspired by the “Old Town Central” campaign of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the fashion shoot took place at some of the most iconic neighbourhoods in Central, highlighting the perfect union of fashion and culture.
CENTRESTAGE After-Show Party@Lan Kwai Fong
To bring more exciting events to the public, the HKTDC will partner with 23 restaurants in Lan Kwai Fong to offer a series of discounts and privileges during the CENTRESTAGE show period (6-9 September).
Street Snap Competition
From now until 30 September, the public can join the Street Snap Competition for a chance to win prizes worth more than HK$100,000. Participants can upload a snap of chic wear via the Hong Kong in Fashion website or Instagram (#CENTRESTAGEHK). Entries with the most “likes” will win fabulous prizes, including an iPad Air 2, a one-night stay in the Full Moon Room with breakfast for two, and a Yamm dinner buffet for two guests, sponsored by The Mira Hong Kong. Other prizes include Vivienne Westwood scarves, anagram cash coupons, special perfume by Artisenses, and gift cards from Casetify.
Tickets for fashion shows
CENTRESTAGE is an international promotion and launch platform designed specifically for Asian fashion brands and designers. More than 210 fashion brands from around the world will join this year, including anagram, Angus Tsui, CHENG PAI CHENG, DORISKATH, DRESSEDUNDRESSED, Edward Achour, HARRISON WONG, House of V, KEEPSAKE, MAXRIENY, I.N.K, izzue, KENAXLEUNG and LOOM LOOP. The public may obtain free tickets to the fashion shows. Please refer to the fair website for details.
OPENSTAGE for the public
CENTRESTAGE will become “OPENSTAGE” on the last day (9 September) and welcome public visitors aged 12 and above free of charge. A series of events, including a fashion parade, lifestyle tips-sharing, make-up and nail art demo, will be arranged. Free CENTRESTAGE shuttle bus services will be arranged between D2 Place at Lai Chi Kok, K11 at Tsim Sha Tsui, Fashion Walk at Causeway Bay and the HKCEC.
