Top Hong Kong Films to be Screened in Cannes
17 May 2017 – A clutch of top Hong Kong movies, headlined by recent blockbuster Shock Wave, will be showcased at the Marché du Film, the world’s largest film market Marché du Film. France’s premier movie market opens today (17 May) and continues through 26 May as part of the concurrent 70th Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival).
The Hong Kong Pavilion, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), features four Hong Kong exhibitors including All Rights Entertainment Ltd, China 3D Digital Distribution Company Ltd, Fortune Star Media Ltd and Young Live Entertainment (HK) Co Ltd. Another eleven Hong Kong companies will showcase their latest productions and seek business and partnership opportunities through their individual stands or offices at Marché du Film.
Spotlight on the Hong Kong Film Industry
The HKTDC is returning to Marché du Film with the Hong Kong Pavilion to promote Hong Kong’s vibrant and creative film industry to international markets and further strengthen Hong Kong’s role as Asia’s entertainment hub.
Besides the critically acclaimed Shock Wave, several other Hong Kong companies will screen their latest offerings at Marché du Film from 17-26 May. The schedule includes 29+1, MRS K and The Brink.
Value-added Services
The Hong Kong Pavilion at the International Village of Marché du Film also serves as a business centre, providing free business facilities to registered Hong Kong participants.
Two Dum Sum receptions will be held at the business centre, starting at 6pm on 19 May and 20 May, offering networking opportunities for invited film industry professionals.
FILMART Follow-up
The Hong Kong Pavilion in Cannes is an ideal setting for Hong Kong industry players to pursue business leads with international contacts made earlier in the year at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART). The 21st FILMART, which was held 13-16 March this year, featured more than 800 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions, and attracted more than 8,000 visitors from around the world.
Through the pavilion at Cannes, the HKTDC promotes both Hong Kong’s film industry and next year’s FILMART which returns to Hong Kong on 19-22 March 2018.
