Hong Kong: Ideal Platform for Indonesian Business Expansion
5 August 2015 – Indonesian businesses can discover ways to take advantage of regional and global opportunities through Hong Kong at the upcoming“In Style • Hong Kong” Symposium, part of a large-scale promotion organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia from 14 to 20 September 2015.
In addition to networking and business-matching opportunities, Indonesian companies can gather insights on a range of business matters, such as the benefits of using RMB for payment, investment and financing. Updates will also be shared regarding the latest trends in digital marketing; as well as in legal, finance, e-commerce, branding and design services.
One Promotion, Many Advantages
This one-stop-shop promotion is a must-attend event for Indonesian corporates, SMEs and start-ups who are considering expansion to the Chinese mainland, Asia and beyond. It also provides the perfect opportunity to network with relevant contacts.
The main symposium and thematic sessions on 17 September will anchor the week-long, multifaceted promotion, and demonstrate Hong Kong’s role as an effective regional platform through which Indonesian companies can expand their overseas business.
Strong Business Links
“Indonesia’s economy is expected to gain momentum over the next few years with buoyant investment and domestic demand, and Hong Kong is well-positioned to help enhance Indonesia’s external trade in East Asia and beyond,” said Dannie Chiu, Regional Director, Southeast Asia, HKTDC.
“Hong Kong is recognised as Asia’s central business district, offering a range of world-class business services in the logistics, legal, banking and financial services sectors. As an international financial centre Hong Kong has a deep pool of professional services talent with multilingual capabilities. These qualities add value for companies based in Hong Kong.
“Not only will attendees find value in attending the symposium, they will harness the power of a wide network through our business-matching activities and consultation with services providers from Hong Kong,” Ms Chiu added.
Hong Kong is already a platform for major Indonesian conglomerates such as the Lippo Group, while Hong Kong corporates including Kerry Logistics have developed substantial operations in Indonesia. In addition, there are a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) established by Indonesian entrepreneurs in Hong Kong.
Indonesia and Hong Kong enjoy close business ties, with the value of our bilateral trade last year reaching US$5.13 billion, while Hong Kong is Indonesia’s ninth largest investor at US$657 million last year, up from less than US$200 million in 2011.
