27 April 2015 – The world’s largest fair for gifts and premium products opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The 30th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair (27-30 April) features a new record of more than 4,200 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions including first-time participants from Bangladesh, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Israel and Portugal. The 10th Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair also opened today and continues through 30 April at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE). The event has gathered a new record of 420 international exhibitors, including new companies from Belgium, Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam.
In addition, there are 170 buying missions at the fairs, comprising over 13,000 buyers from 9,300 companies from 75 countries and regions. Major global importers, distributors and retailers, including Sears and Hobby Lobby Stores from the United States, Lexibook Sourcing from France, Merlin Entertainments Group from Australia, Shinsegae Department Store from Korea and Giftland Co. Ltd. from Thailand have sent their buying teams to the fairs.
Premium Zones
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Gifts & Premium Fair features four new trend-setting zones: Beauty Products & Accessories, Fine Porcelain Gifts, Health & Wellness, and Hiking and Camping Products. Returning zones include the Hall of Fine Designs with 130 top-of-the-range brand name collections and the World of Gift Ideas welcoming 790 exhibitors with the latest products and unique gift ideas.
Made In Hong Kong
The fair’s co-organiser, The Hong Kong Exporters' Association (HKEA), has gathered some 220 exhibitors under its pavilion, which comprises three feature zones, namely, Isle of Originality, Design Village and Brand Oasis. The fourth edition of Hong Kong Smart Gift Design Awards presentation ceremony organised by The HKEA takes place this evening. Winning entries of the Awards are on display at the Design Village (Hall 5C-A23).
Golden Opportunities
Seminars during the Gifts Fair cover a wide range of topics from sports events to smart design. Tomorrow’s “Licensing Opportunities for the Olympics” looks ahead to next year’s Summer Olympic Games in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. Yubo Xu, Chief Executive Officer, HonavBrazil, Huajiang Culture Group (Brazil), will talk about Olympics-related licensing opportunities for companies. Another seminar tomorrow will discuss “Sustainability – A Key Trend in Product Design for Giftware”. On Wednesday, two seminars are organised under the topics of “Safety Compliance, Certification and Credit Risk Management” and “How e-Tools Unlock Your Business Potential.”
Celebrating 30 Years
A special feature this year is a display at Hall 1B Entrance of the HKCEC which tells the story of the evolution of Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair over the past three decades, as well as that of the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair which concluded its 30th edition last week.
Packed With Ideas
Jointly organised with CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Limited, the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair at AWE presents printing & packaging products, services, equipment and consumables as well as pre- and post-press logistics services.
The prevailing industry trends are highlighted at dedicated theme zones, including the De Luxe Zone and the Green Printing & Packaging Solutions Zone. In response to growing demand from the beauty industry, a new Beauty & Cosmetic Packaging Display Showcase is located within the De Luxe Zone. Also new to the show is the Festive Items Display.
Complete Package
A range of seminars during the fair cover a full spectrum of hot topics. They include today’s seminar on “Reaping Profit in Short Run – Workflow Solution from Proofing to Production”. Tomorrow’s seminar is entitled “Branded Packaging: From Design to Production” while “3D Printing: From Ideas to Reality” seminar on Wednesday is co-organised by the Hong Kong Digital Printing Association. The 27th Hong Kong Print Awards Launch Ceremony took place today at Forum Area, Hall 6 of the AWE.
A free shuttle bus service is running between HKCEC and AWE at regular intervals during the course of the Gifts & Premium Fair and Printing & Packaging Fair.
