BIP Asia Forum and Entrepreneur Day to open tomorrow

Strengthen Hong Kong as regional IP trading centre and develop into international I&T city

3 December 2025 - The 15th Business of IP Asia Forum (BIP Asia Forum), jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, and the 17th Entrepreneur Day (E-Day), organised by the HKTDC, will be held concurrently on 4 to 5 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. These events support the initiatives outlined in this year’s Policy Address to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a regional intellectual property (IP) trading centre and to accelerate its development as an international innovation and technology (I&T) hub.

Under the theme “Leverage IP to Finance Business Growth”, this year’s BIP Asia Forum will feature more than 100 speakers on the importance of IP in corporate financing and business growth. The opening ceremony will feature remarks by Sophia Chong, Executive Director of the HKTDC and David Wong, Director of Intellectual Property of the HKSAR. At the special address session in the afternoon, Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR, Li Shengjun, Deputy Head of the Patent Office of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), and Wang Binying, Deputy Director General, World Intellectual Property Organization will deliver speeches.

This year’s programme will explore IP-related issues from IP valuation and financing to sustainable development strategies, as well as opportunities and challenges arising from data licensing. Speakers will also discuss how IP can enhance market competitiveness. The forum will examine development of the IP economy, pathways for Hong Kong enterprises to upgrade and transform, and collaboration between ASEAN and Hong Kong on patent commercialisation and research-to-market initiatives.

The 17th E-Day will run in parallel under the theme “Where Start-up Dreams Take Flight”. It will bring together over 360 start-ups presenting innovative projects across six major tech domains: artificial intelligence, health tech, cybersecurity, construction and logistics tech, spatial computing, and sustainability. Through exhibitions, business matching and thematic seminars, E-Day will connect start-ups with investors and potential partners.

E-Day will feature four key series: Inspirational Masterclass, Start-up 101, Uncovering Hidden Gems, and the Global Tech Summit — a series of forums and roundtable discussions on topics such as research commercialisation, sustainable fashion and global expansion for start-ups. Complemented by entrepreneurial sharing sessions and youth workshops, the programme aims to inspire entrepreneurial thinking from multiple angles. “Start-up Express: International” will have overseas start-ups sharing their entrepreneurial journeys and fostering international exchange.

In addition, DesignInspire will take place on 3 to 6 December to gather local and international design talent and advance Hong Kong’s innovation and IP ecosystem together with the two anchor events.
