The 10th Belt and Road Summit opens tomorrow
Exploring new developments and opportunities, strengthening Hong Kong as strategic hub
9 September 2025 – The 10th Belt and Road Summit, co-organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will be held on 10 and 11 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Themed Collaborate for Change • Shape a Shared Future, the Summit will gather over 90 key officials and business leaders from Belt and Road countries and regions to discuss various hot topics and explore future cooperation opportunities.
The Belt and Road Summit is a flagship platform for Hong Kong to promote the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and marks its significant 10th edition this year. The Opening Session will feature a welcome address by Prof Frederick Ma, Chairman of the HKTDC, opening remarks by John Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR and special addresses from senior officials from the People’s Republic of China. H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia will deliver a keynote speech.
On the first day, Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, HKSAR, will chair the Policy Dialogue, engaging in dialogues with ministerial-level officials and business leaders to explore opportunities and strategies for multilateral cooperation. The Keynote Luncheon will feature welcome remarks by Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR, opening remarks by Chen Liang, Chairman of China International Capital Corporation Limited and a keynote speech by Renat Bekturov, Governor of Astana International Financial Center (AIFC).
The Middle East and ASEAN regions are vital to the BRI. Chief Executive John Lee has led delegations, organised by the HKTDC, to the Middle East and ASEAN, showcasing Hong Kong's business advantages and opportunities and resulted in the signing of MoUs, highlighting Hong Kong's role as a bridge in the strategy of helping our country go global. Following fruitful outcomes of the visits, the summit will invite political and business leaders from various countries to explore new and promising markets.
This year's summit will feature a series of breakout sessions on law, trade, insurance, construction, green finance, and logistics, to explore strategies to foster a more prosperous, sustainable, and interconnected future for countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
