HKTDC Education & Careers Expo opens tomorrow

Over 820 organisations to participate, renowned sports and performing arts figures to share their journeys to success

15 January 2025 – Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 34th  HKTDC Education & Careers Expo runs from 16 to 19 January at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) under the theme “Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits,” and will bring together two major categories, “Education” and “Careers”, with over 100 events free to the public. The “Careers” section brings together professional institutes, recruitment platforms, government departments, public and private organisations and more, offering over 4,000 job opportunities. A number of employers will accept job applications and conduct interviews with potential candidates on-site in the “Recruitment Square” zone.

The Expo gathers over 820 educational institutions, government departments, businesses, and professional associations from 22 countries and regions to provide students and working professionals with the latest and most comprehensive information on education, training, and employment.

The “Education” section features four major zones including “Local Studies,” “Non-Hong Kong Education,” “Lifelong Learning,” and “Youth Zone.” Universities, post-secondary colleges, education centres and education organisations from 22 countries and regions, including Mainland China, Europe, the United States, Asia, and Hong Kong, will provide consultation services on further education, not just to younger visitors, but to people of all ages as a way to help promote the silver economy.

In the “Careers” section, a number of government departments and public institutions will attend including the Fire Services Department, Civil Service Bureau, and the Immigration Department, all looking to recruit at the Expo. This year sees the introduction of the “Aviation Corner,” where aviation-related organisations like the Airport Authority Hong Kong will provide jobs opportunities and information for those aspiring to enter the aviation industry. Additionally, the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy will promote relevant training opportunities.

The Expo is anchored around four theme days — “Arts & Sports” (16 January), “Tourism & Hospitality” (17 January), “Innovation & Technology” (18 January), and “Greater Bay Area Opportunities” (19 January). Over 100 informative events will be held during the Expo, including sharing sessions by Vivian Ma and Yip Pui Yin, former Hong Kong athletes; Terry Lam, screenwriter of the film A Guilty Conscience; Gordon Lam, renowned actor, scriptwriter, and producer; Amy Ho, Director of Human Resources of Cordis, Hong Kong; John Hui, Chief Digital Officer of the Vocational Training Council and Principal of the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology; Oliver Wan, Founding Chairman, Greater Bay Area Hong Kong & Macau Talents Association; and DSE top scorers Pamela Chiu and Icy Ku. The theme day seminar series and exhibitor seminars provide insights into employment trends and industry developments across various sectors.
