World’s top twin jewellery shows open tomorrow
Diamond Gem & Pearl Show launches at AsiaWorld-Expo tomorrow, Jewellery Show at HKCEC on Thursday
26 February 2024 – The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC)’s 10th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show will run from 27 February to 2 March at AsiaWorld-Expo and the 40th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show from 29 February to 4 March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. As the world’s top jewellery trading platform, the shows – themed Be Part of the Splendid Legacy – are drawing over 4,000 exhibitors from 44 countries and regions.
The shows will feature 36 group pavilions – including those from Belgium, Brazil, Mainland China, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and others. The jewellery show will gather a wide range of famous brand jewellery collections, jadeite items and wedding pieces. The Italian Pavilion showcases traditional craftsmanship, exhibiting extraordinarily shaped jewellery with diamonds and platinum. The Diamond, Gem, and Pearl Show will gather a wide range of diamonds, gems and pearls, raw materials for jewel-making. Zhuji City of Zhejiang Province returns to display fine freshwater pearls. The shows will include activities and seminars where industry professionals outline industry information and trends. During the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department will host a Thematic Seminar for non-Hong Kong Precious Metals and Stones Dealers on 27 February. Four companies from Henan province will introduce lab-grown diamond products in a Henan Promotional Meeting on 28 February. A senior gemmologist at Swiss Gemmological Institute will speak in a seminar themed Advanced Gemmology and Scientific Analysis on Gemstone Testing: Basic, Profound and Prospect on 29 February.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, an invitation-only Jewellery Gala Dinner – sharing the fairs’ Be Part of the Splendid Legacy theme – at the HKCEC on 29 February will feature Legislative Council President Andrew Leung as Guest of Honour. Celebrities including Rosita Kwok, Hera Chan, Grace Wong and Linna Huynh will also attend the Gala Dinner. At a cocktail reception beforehand, models will display jewellery items and winning pieces from the Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition 2024. (Please note: Rosita Kwok, Hera Chan, Grace Wong and Linna Huynh will not attend the cocktail reception. Instead, Rosita Kwok and Hera Chan will take media interviews outside the reception from 6:20pm to 6:40pm. Journalists interested in interviewing the celebrities may arrive at Chancellor Room, 4/F, HKCEC before 6:20pm.)
Jewellery Show activities include a jewellery design and trend forum on 29 February, hosted by Valentin Andres, Industrial & Supply Chain Director of FRED, a brand under the world-renowned LVMH Group. A seminar on The Future of Chinese Jewellery Design and AI Empowerment will be held on 1 March. The result of the 25th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition will be announced at the award presentation ceremony held on 1 March, and the winning pieces will be exhibited at Hall 1E. The Gemmological Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification and the World Jewellery Confederation will announce the latest international Fei Cui standard in a seminar on 2 March.
