‘Two shows, two venues’ – twin jewellery pageants return
Actress Rosita Kwok and HK Team fencer Shawn Cheung display valuable pieces at preview press briefing
19 February 2024 – Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 10th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show will run at AsiaWorld-Expo from 27 February to 2 March while the 40th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show runs from 29 February to 4 March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. These are the first twin, two shows, two venues displays of treasure since the pandemic, creating great sourcing and trade opportunities for industry players.
Themed Be Part of the Splendid Legacy, the jewellery duo is expected to draw over 4,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and regions, creating the world’s top-tier jewellery trading platform. A wide variety of exquisite jewellery – including accessory lines from world-renowned brands, jade pieces and wedding items, as well as all sorts of raw materials such as diamonds, gems and pearls – will be on display. Industry seminars and networking receptions will help jewellery makers grasp the latest developments in the market.
A press conference tomorrow afternoon (20 February) will introduce highlights from the twin jewellery shows and industry experts will share insights into market trends, prospects and business strategies. The press conference will feature a jewellery parade where actress Rosita Kwok, Hong Kong Team fencer Shawn Cheung and models display stunning jewellery pieces, including:
A full set of Paraiba pieces, worth over HK$15 million, including a necklace, a ring and a pair of earrings. The bright blue Paraiba is one of the rarest precious stones on Earth
This set includes two brooches and a ring, with highly translucent green jadeite, adorned with diamonds, and mounted in 18 karat white gold |
Exquisite brooches combine the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of embroidery with jewellery craftsmanship. The embroidery was carved with silk thread by Hong Kong embroidery masters, creating light but vivid illustrations of butterflies, dragonflies and orchids, sewn together with gold accessories and jewellery pieces, striking a perfect balance between rejuvenation and elegance |
