Business of IP Asia Forum and Entrepreneur Day open tomorrow
An array of programmes promoting tech commercialisation
6 December 2023 - The 13th Business of IP Asia Forum, co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and the 15th Entrepreneur Day, organised by the HKTDC, will be held concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre tomorrow and Friday.
With a comprehensive programme, that includes forums, exhibitions, competitions, workshops and business matching, the two events enable IP project owners, start-ups and SMEs to understand the latest market trends, network and find business partners or investors to commercialise their innovations.
BIP Asia Forum
This year’s BIP Asia Forum, themed IP & Innovation: Steering New Economic Growth, brings together more than 90 global IP experts and business leaders to discuss the latest developments and trends in the Asian IP space.
The opening ceremony will be officiated by Ms Margaret Fong, Executive Director of the HKTDC; Mr Michael Wong, Deputy Financial Secretary of the HKSAR; Dr Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration; and Mr Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Entrepreneur Day
E-Day features experts from different industries sharing their insights on the latest trends in innovation and technology (I&T).
The exhibition this year brings together over 300 start-ups, projects and start-up support services from 11 countries and regions. Additionally, it features an Australian pavilion, led by Investment NSW, for the first time. This event equips start-ups and SMEs with a greater understanding of the latest market dynamics and innovations, while enabling them to capture business opportunities.
Moreover, the Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong, co-organised by The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association and Palexpo in Geneva, showcases over 110 innovations and start-ups from Asia at E-Day, with the aim to facilitate collaboration.
The HKTDC’s long-running Start-up Express International is held once again during E-Day. Eight of the 10 winners from diverse countries and regions share their entrepreneurial journey at the event in person.
Themed Building Resilience, Boosting Collaboration, the E-Day seminars will encompass four major series, including Inspirational Masterclass Series, Emerging Trends for Tech and Innovation Series, Fuelling The Future Series, and Market Exploration Series.
On the event’s opening day tomorrow, the T-Chat – Cooling the Cloud: Igniting Sustainable Innovation for a Resilient Future seminar features Serge Conesa, Founder and CEO of Swiss start-up Immersion4 and Jacqueline Chong, Hong Kong Digital Innovation Lead of Amazon Web Services.
InnoClub, a platform jointly developed by the HKTDC and Hang Seng Bank, is hosting the inaugural InnoClub Award Presentation Ceremony on Friday to recognise the exceptional achievements of InnoClub members in I&T.
