ALMAC 2023 set to launch tomorrow

Conference looks to future-proof supply chains by embracing diversification, decarbonisation and digitalisation

 

20 November 2023 – The Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) 2023, jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), returns to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 21 and 22 November. The annual flagship conference for transport and supply chains in Asia, themed Future-proofing Supply Chains: Diversification • Decarbonisation • Digitalisation, will explore diverse strategies to address global trade changes and uncertainties while promoting carbon reduction and fostering sustainable development for the industry.

 

Close to 70 esteemed logistics, maritime and air-freight experts, as well as industry leaders from brands and shippers, will attend. Representatives from industry giants such as CMA CGM, DHL, FedEx, JD Logistics and UPS will actively participate in 20 forums, sharing their insights. Fu Xuyin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China will deliver the Keynote Address in person. Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government Paul Chan will be the Guest of Honour and deliver Opening Remarks.

 

On the first day, 21 November, a plenary session titled Driving Global Economic Growth through Supply Chain Transformation will delve into the challenges and potential of the global supply chain. Jeremy Goldstrich, Vice President, Operations, North Pacific of FedEx Express; Gladis Araujo, Former Global Supply Chain Strategy Vice President of Mattel Inc and Business Partner & Chief Supply Chain Officer of Prodensa Group and Phil Showering of Chief Supply Chain Officer of Ghassan Aboud Group and Chief Executive Officer, Gallega Global Logistics will discuss how to drive business growth and promote sustainable development by embracing supply chain transformation and innovation.

 

Two Power Dialogue sessions will offer insights into opportunities in Asia and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues in logistics. Representatives from prominent global logistics companies such as Adeline Franger Chouraqui, CEO, CMA CGM Greater China; Thomas Kowitzki, Vice President, Global Head of China Rail and DHL Global Forwarding will discuss how recent developments, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) bloc and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) rollout, as well as multimodal transportation and rail logistics, can strengthen regional connectivity and facilitate business collaborations. Tim Edmunds, Partner for Sustainability Strategy & Transformation, PwC; David Benattar, Sustainability Lead, The Warehouse Group Limited; Peter Harris, Vice President, International Sustainability, UPS and Serena Mak, Executive Director, Sustainable Finance, Institutional Banking Group, DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited will explore challenges and opportunities in reducing supply chain carbon emissions and promoting circular economy development.

 

At the two Logtech Forum sessions, experts and scholars will discuss revolutionary solutions, cutting-edge technologies and the wide application of generative artificial intelligence that propel the development of modern logistics and intelligent supply chains. The forums will provide insights on the transformative impact of emerging technologies on supply chain management.

 

On the second day (22 November), the Shippers’ Forum will focus on E-commerce Logistics and Fulfillment. Lai Tze Siung, Chief Logistics Officer, Pomelo Fashion, Ma Wei, General Manager, JD Logistics Express Business Hong Kong and Mao Lingke, General Manager of Air Freight Department, Cainiao Global Supply Chain will discuss best practices in e-commerce logistics and distribution.

 

Three workshops debut this year, providing practical skills and strategies for participants and covering regulatory developments, investment practices and practical techniques for establishing effective indicators, measurements and reporting in ESG, content strategies, marketing tactics, product distribution, user experience and customer service strategies in e-commerce, and youth empowerment to enhance relevant skills crucial for the industry. ALMAC will feature nearly 100 exhibitors, including the inaugural Logtech Salon showcasing robots, AI and data systems tailored to the industry, offering a deeper understanding of technological advances and applications.
