Green curtain rises on Eco Expo Asia

Preview the latest electric and hydrogen vehicles, environmental technologies and products at the press conference

18 October 2023 – The Eco Expo Asia 2023, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), will run from 26 to 29 October physically at the AsiaWorld- Expo (AWE), with the last day open to the public for free to encourage green activities and green-living practices.

The Expo will continue to use the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model. Exhibitors and buyers can conduct online business negotiations through the Click2Match smart business matching platform from 19 October to 6 November.

This year’s Expo is themed Taking the Leap towards Carbon Neutrality. As a key environmental event, the Expo is supported by exhibitors and pavilions from many countries and regions. Pavilions from Japan and Canada are returning, and this year’s Expo has received strong support from Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cities, with debut pavilions from Macao and Zhongshan, as well as a brand-new Hydrogen Pavilion featuring several Hong Kong enterprises. Together with the returning Guangzhou and Shenzhen Pavilions, the event will demonstrate Hong Kong’s unlimited potential in promoting GBA cooperation.

The Expo features a wide range of zones, including green transport, waste management and the circular economy, green buildings and energy efficiency, as well as green finance and ESG-related Services. The Startup Zone lets entrepreneurs showcase technologies, while the debut ESG Job Hub gives young people opportunities to learn more about ESG prospects and opportunities from employers on-site.

A press conference tomorrow (19 October) will introduce the features and activities of this year’s Expo. Some exhibitors will bring their innovative green products for the media to have a first look, including new energy vehicles and the latest electric vehicle charging technology in the green transport zone; smart food waste machines in the waste management and the circular economy zone; sustainable and durable footwear made of environmentally friendly materials in the eco-friendly products zone. The startup zone will feature entrepreneurs showcasing products and technologies that address environmental issues.

The Expo will also welcome industry experts and scholars from around the world to a number of seminars and forums focusing on developing trends within the global green industry. These will include the Eco Asia Conference, which will look at environmental challenges and opportunities of the green industry.
