Flagship events pilot International Healthcare Week
The medical world will stream to the Asia Summit on Global Health and Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair.
28 April 2023 – The second International Healthcare Week, driven by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will return from 16 to 31 May 2023. Building on last year’s success, the event will draw on Hong Kong’s strategic role as a healthcare innovation and investment hub in Asia to facilitate cross-disciplinary exchanges and collaboration, generating synergy with a diverse array of relevant conferences, seminars, webinars, roundtable meetings and networking activities. The International Healthcare Week flagship events are the third Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) co-organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the HKTDC, and the 14th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair, which will run concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
Running on 17 and 18 May ASGH is themed Reimagining the Future of Healthcare. The first day will be held physically at the HKCEC while the second day will be entirely virtual. The summit will assemble more than 80 distinguished speakers – from healthcare experts to renowned academia and influential business leaders, together with key industry players, innovative start-ups, investors and policymakers from around the world to exchange insights, explore opportunities and collaborate on the diverse and dynamic healthcare sector. The summit will also feature the ASGH Deal-making Session, InnoHealth Showcase, Project Pitching Sessions, Business of Healthcare Advisory Zone and Exhibition. More than 130 start-ups, healthcare companies and R&D institutions will showcase their latest technologies and connect with participants around the world to explore opportunities.
The 14th Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair, from 16 to 18 May at the HKCEC, will gather more than 300 exhibitors showcasing technologies in various zones including Biotechnology, Hospital Equipment, Rehabilitation and Elderly Care, and World of Health and Wellness. Themed Unleash the Power of Smart Health, the fair aims to provide an effective and professional platform through which industry players can connect with various medical and healthcare companies, understand the latest market trends and developments, build business networks, and source the latest products and services. Under the EXHIBITION+ model, the smart business-matching platform Click2Match and the hktdc.com Sourcing platform extend the event beyond face-to-face interactions at physical events, helping enterprises connect with business partners proactively.
ASGH and the Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair will be introduced at a press conference on 4 May (Thursday). Ms Margaret Fong, Executive Director of the HKTDC; Dr Donald Li, Chairman of the Elderly Commission, and Dr Lydia Leung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association, will reveal details of the International Healthcare Week and highlights from the two flagship events. They will also feature HKTDC’s efforts to promote development of Hong Kong's biotechnology and healthcare industry, as well as the overview, changes, prospects and opportunities of the healthcare industry and medical and healthcare equipment industries, and success stories. In addition, six exhibitors have been invited to present their new medical products and scientific research technologies.
