HKTDC Education & Careers Expo returns
Latest study and employment trends to be revealed at press conference tomorrow
17 January 2023 – The 32nd HKTDC Education & Careers Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will run from 2 to 5 February at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). In his 2022 Policy Address, John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), proposed measures to attract enterprises and talents to enhance competitiveness, a key goal of many local government bodies, corporations and institutions. This is one of the many areas the latest edition of the Education & Careers Expo, your go-to source for further study and employment, will focus on.
A press conference will be held tomorrow (18 January), hosted by Jenny Koo, Assistant Executive Director of HKTDC, joined by co-hosts representing different industries, to introduce the Education and Career Expo as well as industry highlights.
Following the resumption of quarantine-free travel between Hong Kong and Mainland China, and the removal of most pandemic restrictions, many industries are enlarging talent pools to create strong impetus for growth and preparing to seize the post-pandemic opportunities.
This is particularly the case for the travel and tourism and construction industries. Hence, Veon Tsang, Founder, HotelsHR will share the latest developments in tourism recruitment at the press conference.
The growing infrastructure and construction industries have long been indispensable to the sustainable economic development of Hong Kong and there is strong demand for talent, especially skilled workers. Rebecca Choi, Assistant Director – Student & Curriculum Development, Hong Kong Institute of Construction and Natalie Chew, Director of Communications and Public Relations Office, Vocational Training Council will share their latest training programmes tailored for new employees.
In addition, Yvonne Wong, Vice Chairman, The Y.Elites Association and General Manager, Qianhai International Liaison Services Ltd will provide insights into development and education options in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as share information about the special arrangements for Hong Kong’s youth in Qianhai. The press conference will also discuss the latest information and opportunities regarding further study and employment, as Hong Kong gradually returns to normal.
The Careers zone features the latest workplace news from professional bodies, recruitment platforms, government departments, and public and private organisations and will offer more than 2,800 job openings. In particular, employers at the Recruitment Square Zone will accept job applications on-site. In the Education zone, the Youth Zone, on the other hand, will introduce a number of internship and job opportunities.
