Hong Kong Book Fair media pre-tour held tomorrow

Fair opens on 20 July with a wide variety of events

18 July 2022 – The 32^nd HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will run from 20 to 26 July (Wednesday to Tuesday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), together with the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and HKTDC World of Snacks. A pre-tour of the fairs will be organised for media friends tomorrow (Tuesday, 19 July), the day before the fairs open to the public, to preview the thematic exhibitions at the Book Fair’s Art Gallery together with highlights of the Sports and Leisure Expo and World of Snacks. The tour will include demonstrations of a number of the hottest new sporting activities and an introduction to popular snacks sourced from around the globe.

As one of the events to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the Book Fair’s theme in 2022 is “History and City Literature”, with the tagline “Reading the World: Stories of Hong Kong”, highlighting Hong Kong’s development through the works of featured authors, celebrating the city’s uniqueness, and helping to spread the joy of reading across the city. The three events are expected to attract over 700 exhibitors, offering visitors stimulation for the brain, body and palate with a single entry ticket.

As a highlight of the Book Fair, the “Eight Seminar Series” covers a wide range of literary interests with topics including “Stories of Hong Kong”, “Renowned Writers”, “English and International Reading”, “World of Knowledge”, “Children and Youth Reading”, “Lifestyle”, “Hong Kong Cultural and Historical”, and “Personal Development and Spiritual Growth”. Along with other cultural activities taking place during the fair, the events will help facilitate interaction between authors and booklovers.

The HKTDC Education & Careers Expo will also be held at the HKCEC from 21 to 24 July, running in parallel with the Book Fair and other fairs. Youngsters and jobseekers can access the latest information on education and career opportunities at this one-stop event. Admission is free of charge.

Remarks:

1) The pre-tour will include a preview of exhibitions at the Art Gallery and several booths from the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and World of Snacks. Other parts of the fair will be open to the public from 20 July.

2) Safety is a top priority for the HKTDC and various measures will be implemented at the press conference to protect the health of all participants. All visitors must wear a mask before entering the Centre. Following the HKSAR Government’s implementation of the LeaveHomeSafe mobile app and Vaccine Pass, all visitors to the HKTDC SME Centre will be required to use the LeaveHomeSafe mobile app and show their COVID-19 vaccination record before entering.
