HKTDC Education & Careers Expo opens in July
Embracing new era with “Skilling for the Future”
Press conference to preview fair highlights
11 July 2022 – The 31st HKTDC Education & Careers Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will be held from 21 to 24 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The expo will be held concurrently with the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and HKTDC World of Snacks. The four-day expo will attract several hundred organisations from all over the world, including educational institutions from Japan, Ireland, Finland and Switzerland which are joining for the first time.
The expo offers designated zones under two themes, Education and Careers. The Education zone connects visitors to openings offered by universities, higher education institutions and vocational education organisations from Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas. The Careers zone gives the public easy access to information related to opportunities in the workplace from professional bodies, government departments, and public and private organisations. The expo aims to offer a one-stop platform providing information for further studies and career development. Catering to the demand of various industries, it will feature a range of career themes including Innovation and technology Industry, Skill Development, Construction and Electrical & Mechanical Engineering. The expo will also feature several study hot-spots in the thematic Education Days, while a series of seminars on overseas studies will help parents and students get a better understanding of the respective education systems in different locations.
The Recruitment Square features various recruitment platforms with government departments, public and private organisations and exhibitors joining to offer more than 2,700 job openings. The Youth Zone specially designed for young people will introduce a number of internship and job opportunities this year, as well as information on working holidays that are popular among young people.
The four-day expo will also organise more than 90 events to broaden the horizons of students and visitors, making it a turning point in their studies and careers. A number of star speakers will take part, including Kim Fung Wong, the founder of threezero; Howard Chan, founder of Hot Toys; and Kenny Wong, the designer of Molly, who will share their secrets of success in a seminar titled “From Collecting Toys to Making Your Own Toys”. Meanwhile, the “Dream Girls”, a group of key opinion leaders (KOLs) from the construction industry, will draw on their own personal experiences to examine “How Can Girls Work on Construction Sites?”; Other seminars such as “Skilling for the Future” by the Vocational Training Council and “Professional Development for the Future” by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups will encourage young people to embrace the future by acquiring new skills.
A press conference will be held tomorrow (Tuesday, 12 July) to introduce highlights of the expo and analyse the demand for human resources and the prospects in various industries. We cordially invite you or your representative to attend.
