Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference opens tomorrow

Online-and-offline hybrid event captures new opportunities

1 November 2021 – Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, the 11th Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) will be held on 2 and 3 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The event will be held in a hybrid format, with both physical and online elements, for the first time.

Running on the theme “RESILIENCE • AGILITY • SUSTAINABILITY Reshaping the Global Supply Chain”, the annual signature event for the maritime, air freight, logistics and supply chain management industries and shippers will examine the major factors currently influencing the global economy, looking at how the COVID-19 pandemic, digital transformation and geopolitical tensions are reshaping the global supply chain and discussing both opportunities and risks for businesses, including the issue of sustainable development.

More than 60 industry leaders will speak in person or virtually in 30 different sessions at the event. Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, will officiate at the online opening on day one while Frank Chan, Secretary for Transport and Housing of the HKSAR, will attend in person at the HKCEC on day two to deliver special remarks.

On day one of the conference (2 November), the Power Dialogue session will look at “New Trade Order and Evolving Intermodal Networks in Asia-Pacific” to discuss how shippers and key industry players are adjusting to the post-pandemic era and examine how regional supply chain networks are expected to evolve in the coming years. Themed “Post-pandemic Megatrends in E-commerce”, the session on day two will invite speakers from Cainiao and Bukalapak to share on how global e-commerce players are developing fulfillment strategies that adequately address supply chain, inventory management and delivery issues to help deal with new logistical challenges. The third session titled “Beyond 2050: A Quest for a Zero-carbon and Sustainable Supply Chain” will invite speakers from Nestlé and LFX to examine the long-term sustainability strategies adopted by the logistics industry.

Various forums will cover a range of topical issues relating to the air freight and maritime industries, as well as supply chain management and logistics. Topics to be covered include smart air cargo, sustainable shipping, the digital transformation of logistics and automation of the global supply chain, providing participants with a more complete picture of the latest market intelligence and business opportunities. In addition, the online-and-offline conference will present various logistics technology and solutions, including efficient and smart logistics management solutions, international payments and smart cargo ports. The online platform will also provide several interactive artificial intelligence-driven functions that will allow industry players to join business matching activities.
