Major Electronics and Lighting Marketplaces Open in April
Press Conference to Unveil Fair Details, New Products & Market Trends

19 March 2018 – The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), the HKTDC International ICT Expo and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) will be held next month at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), featuring a total of more than 4,800 exhibitors who will showcase an array of innovative products and technology. The fair organiser, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will hold a press conference on 26 March to announce details of the three fairs and share insights into the export performance and market trends for the industries. A selection of creative products will be previewed at the press conference.

The 15^th edition of the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), Asia’s largest event of its kind, and International ICT Expo, will be held from 13 to 16 April, with approximately 3,500 exhibitors taking part. The Startup zone will return to the fairs to showcase innovative technology and services developed by start-ups from Hong Kong and further afield. The Spring Electronics Fair will once again feature the popular Tech Hall displaying hi-tech products in four thematic zones: Connected Home, Robotics & Unmanned Tech, Virtual Reality (VR) and Wearable Electronics. The concurrent International ICT Expo will spotlight the latest ICT products and solutions for various industries. This year, the Expo will adopt the theme "Smart City: The Way of the Future", and a Smart City zone will be launched to present a range of solutions and applications for the development of smart cities.

Meanwhile, the 10^th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) will take place from 6 to 9 April. Expected to gather nearly 1,340 exhibitors, the fair will introduce four new zones -- Horticulture Lighting, Residential Lighting, Technical Lighting and Urban & Architectural Lighting. The Smart Lighting & Solutions Zone will continue to respond to the prevalence of Internet of Things (IoT) technology by showcasing the latest smart and remote-control lighting systems and products. Other highlight zones include the Hall of Aurora, LED & Green Lighting and Advertising Display Lighting, which will feature a wide variety of lighting products, technologies and solutions, offering plenty of business opportunities to buyers from around the world.

Products on display at the press conference will include:

• Smart robot with soft hand: Capable of holding objects of different shapes. Its embedded artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm recognises the user’s face and emotions and provides relevant reactions. It can also be used for home monitoring, with live video and two-way audio functions;
• “Follow-Me” Robots: It can carry heavy or bulky objects while following the worker wearing a dedicated vest with special signage;
• Portable Charger Kit (PCK): A handheld Electric Vehicle (EV) charger that works with proprietary alternating current (AC) power socket through wireless authentication. The driver can simply plug the charger to a nearby PCK Socket and get “medium fast” charging for the vehicle after parking;
• Palm Fusion Biometric Access Control System: It features a contactless biometric sensing device that can capture an individual’s palm veins and palm print patterns by radiating infrared and visible light when a user puts his or her palm above it. As veins are beneath the skin, it is extremely difficult to alter them to forge an identity. On the other hand, human palmprints contain many differentiating features and even identical twins do not have identical palmprints;
• OpenVR.shop: An online service allowing physical store owners to create a 24-hour online branch via VR;
• Lighting Laser Projector: Combining illumination and projection functions, this item projects light with content such as text and images to create customised digital spaces;
• Smart Control: With the patented constant current reduction LED driving technology, the item controls lighting products of the same circuit in order that they emit eye-pleasing light;
• LED Plant Light: It provides energy for photosynthesis and helps to regulate and control the growth of plants in indoor agriculture.
