Education & Careers Expo Opens Next Thursday
Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong to Officiate the Opening Ceremony
26 January 2018 – The 28th HKTDC Education & Careers Expo will run from 1-4 February (Thursday to Sunday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Law Chi-kwong, Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the Hong Kong SAR Government, will be the guest of honour at the expo’s opening ceremony.
The four-day expo will feature 870 educational institutions, professional associations, government organisations and private companies from 21 countries and regions, offering the latest information on education and career prospects. It is open to the public free of charge.
The expo will spotlight daily Education and Career theme days. New career themes this year include Arts and Culture, Banking and Finance, as well as Civil and Public Services, while the Electrical and Mechanical theme day returns to the show. The education theme days will feature a number of international study hot-spots: the Chinese mainland, the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Representatives from these countries will provide the latest updates on overseas study opportunities, as well as details on entry requirements, admission procedures and campus life.
Various government departments together with public and private organisations, including the Police Force, Fire Services Department, Immigration Department, the Hong Kong Airport Authority, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, Centaline Property Agency Ltd and DKSH will accept on-the-spot job applications. Close to 2,400 job opportunities are expected to be offered during the expo.
The Youth Zone will offer young people information on further education and employment. The Labour Department will also introduce the Youth Employment and Training Programme, which is designed to support local youth employment.
More than 100 events, including dog performances by the Police Force and Fire Services Department, seminars on topics ranging from DSE/IELTS preparation to further studies and career prospects, will take place during the four-day expo.,Veteran liberal studies teacher Hui Shing-yan, will share practical tips on taking the HKDSE Liberal Studies examination; Elton Chau, General Manager of NTK Academic Group, discuss the characteristics of the IB Diploma Programme. In addition, Oscar Lee, Principal Anchor, NOW TV, Karen Cheng, Medical PR agency Consultant & former news anchor, renowned YouTuber Teddy Head, as well as TV travel program host Chris Leung, will share their experience in building their careers.
