Medical Devices & Supplies Fair Opens this Month
Press Conference to Preview Latest Products and Market Trends

2 May 2017 – The eighth HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical Devices and Supplies Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) with the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA), opens on 16 May and continues through 18 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The event is expected to attract 270 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions, displaying a variety of the latest medical and health-related equipment, technology and services.

A preview of some of the fair highlights will be staged at a press conference next week. Among the products to be featured will be Hong Kong’s first self-service cognitive screening assessment platform, which can provide fast cognitive assessment for patients with dementia. An exercise machine equipped with various muscle-training programmes to alleviate symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, will also be on display. Another product is a monitoring system s to alert family members and caregivers of any accidents involving elderly patients.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will also introduce an innovative tank-top featuring a bio-feedback system with multiple sensors, which provide back muscle and customised posture-training for scoliosis patients. An autonomous mobile robot for transporting specimens, medication and supplies to different departments throughout a medical facility will be also displayed, as well as a medical-grade electrocardiogram (ECG) band for smart watches that can offer instant ECG Analysis.

The Medical Fair will set up a new Startup Zone, showcasing innovative medical products from local exhibitors. Another new zone, the “World of Healthcare” will present healthcare products and services. Other highlighted sector-specific fair zones include “Hospital Equipment,” “Tech Exchange,” “Rehabilitation and Elderly Care” and “Physiotherapy.”
