Hong Kong Book Fair Open Public Forum on Friday
Wilbur Smith, Simon Winchester & Hannah Rothschild to Attend
July 18 2016 – The 27th Hong Kong Book Fair organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will be held from 20 to 26 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sir David Tang continues his generous support of the fair this year by hosting the Open Public Forum featuring three respected English language authors, namely, novelist Wilbur Smith, journalist and author Simon Winchester and the current Chair of the Board of Trustees of the London National Gallery Hannah Rothschild.
Wilbur Smith published his first book When the Lion Feeds in 1964. This work is centred on early African racial politics as viewed from both sides of the racial divide. The book achieved wide acclaim and established Mr Smith as a sought after writer. When Simon Winchester worked for the British newspaper The Guardian, he reported on many important incidents such as Bloody Sunday and the Watergate Scandal. His first book The Holy Terror is based largely on his own experience of the clashes in Northern Ireland. Hannah Rothschild is deeply involved in the arts and is also a well-established writer. In 2015 she became the first female Chair of the London National Gallery Board of Trustees. In the same year she published her prize-winning book The Improbability of Love.
Sir David Tang and the three authors will meet the press prior to the Open Public Forum to discuss their ideas and writing styles. You and your representatives are invited to attend the press session and the forum. Details are as follows:
