International Wine & Spirits Fair Opens Next Thursday
Press Preview to Showcase Fair Highlights Next Wednesday
29 October 2015 – Some 1,060 exhibitors from around the world will showcase a variety of wine, spirits, wine investment, accessories, equipment and related services at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair, which runs 5-7 November, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). John Tsang, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony (5 Nov).
A special press preview of the fair will be held on 4 November, the day before the fair opens, to give the media an early taste of some of the event highlights.
This year’s eighth edition of the Wine & Spirits Fair has attracted exhibitors from 32 countries and regions. Portugal, this year’s Partner Country, will bring more than 40 exhibitors to the fair and conduct a number of wine-tasting sessions. Close to 80 special events are arranged, including the Wine Industry Conference and the seventh Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition Award Presentation Ceremony. The ceremony will be followed by a Gala Wine Dinner, under the Portuguese-inspired theme “Fado Wine Night.”
This year’s headline offerings include Portugal’s Sogrape Vinhos, which wears the title of “2015 Best Wine Producer Worldwide”; Château le Puy from France, which is aged at sea for 10 months during a sailing trip around the Atlantic; and the famous whisky from Japan, Mars Maltage. There will also be selected wines and spirits from countries such as Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Georgia and Moldova.
The fair is open to the public (admission HK$200), aged 18 or above, on Saturday, 7 November. Public visitors can take part in a number of wine-tasting sessions, master classes and attend whisky and cocktail demonstrations.
